At the Shoot..

Last night I was at Westbourne Studios for the shoot for my illustration. I had never done anything like it so it was really interesting for me to attend. We did not get the model we originally wanted, instead we got Toni Cox from FM Models and she was brilliant, she had exactly the kind of look I imagined for my illustration. Also, the hair and make-up were spot on.
I need to collect a CD with all the images from the shoot from the photographer this evening, cant wait to start working on them!

I think I’m getting a bit carried away with all of this symmetrical pattern making.
Need to keep reminding myself that I’m not designing wrapping paper.

Collage

Now that I have a collection of different illustrations, I thought I’d experiment and collage some bits and pieces to put a fresh illustration together. This one was just a quickie. Some of you may recognize the pattern in the back that I used for the Creamfields project, the headshot of the girl was from the final project in the second year and the spray paint was something I did over the weekend.

Project Update...

Due to the fact that the photographer was away last Thursday, the photo shoot could not go ahead as planned. However, I received a phone call from Unruly Studio today and they have confirmed that they have a studio, model, photographer, stylist and make-up artist booked for this Wednesday at 5 o’clock.
I am really happy about this because the sooner I get the images from this shoot the sooner I can get on with the actual illustration that will go on the wall, instead of just doing practice ones like I have been posting on the blog for the past week.

Practice Makes Perfect...

While waiting for the photo shoot and images for Unruly Studio, I have been practicing and experimenting illustration techniques on high quality fashion images from Lula Magazine. Hopefully I will do many more to build up a decent body of back up work and experimental documentation. This one was drawn over by hand and then slightly manipulated in photoshop.

Compositions & Angles

I have been asked by the team at Unruly Studio to do some rough drawings and ideas on the composition of the photos we will be taking on Thursday. This way we will have a clear idea of what angles to take the photos from on the day.
So I have collaged a few ideas and emailed them to Michael Price, and he likes the angle and composition of the girl in the 1st image.

New Window Installed

Yesterday morning the new window was installed by Chris from Coloursonic, I went along to help out and see how it’s done.
Some of the pictures I took are not so clear, the actual illustration looks much better in real life. If anyone is in Portobello, they should go and have a look.

Now I need to get on with the inside graphics, so we have organized a fashion shoot for Thursday 19th, which is next week. Once I have the images from the shoot I can start working on top of them. In the mean time I am going to practice some illustration techniques.

Make-Up Mood Board

I have put together a mood board for the shoot we will be doing, so that the make-up artists have a clear idea of the style and color palette we are aiming to achieve.

Project Update...

I have been really busy so I have not posted anything for a while, since starting this project for Unruly Studio I have been given some smaller design projects to do for them. I have been working on an ad that will appear in Grove Magazine and a price list for their new make-up and beauty section.
Anyway back to the original project... I have spoken to colorsonic printers who are printing and applying the new window sticker, we have agreed for them to come to Unruly Studio on Tuesday (in 5 days) to finish the job. I will also be there to take some photos to document the proccess.
Also, I have been discussing which model to use for the head shot of the fashion illustration that will be applied onto the wall, and we have been checking out models from FM Modeling Agency (http://www.fmmodelagency.com).
We are really interested in casting the model below, her name is Jovana Prosenik, check out her profile on the website.
